Apostle Kwaku Dua Urges Caution on Dr. Bawumia’s Candidacy

Apostle Kwaku Dua, in a circulating video, shared his observations about the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and explained why he believes party delegates should not vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their next presidential candidate.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia reportedly stated that if NPP delegates vote for him, the party risks remaining in opposition for the next 12 years. Apostle Kwaku Dua said this statement, combined with certain developments within the party, raises serious concerns about Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the NPP back to power.

He outlined four main reasons for his position:
Party Disappointment: Many NPP members remain angry and feel disappointed, believing Dr. Bawumia did not do enough to help the party retain power in the last general election.

Economic Expertise Questioned: He questioned Dr. Bawumia’s performance as an economic advisor during the previous administration, alleging he failed to properly advise former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo amid widespread allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

Internal Party Tensions: He pointed to Alan Kyerematen’s exit from the NPP, suggesting that unresolved internal issues may undermine Dr. Bawumia’s leadership ambitions.
Regional Balance Concerns: He argued that northern Ghana has already produced three NPP presidential candidates, while the Greater Accra Region has yet to do so, raising questions about fairness and inclusiveness in the party’s democratic process.
Based on these points, Apostle Kwaku Dua concluded that NPP delegates should reconsider supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s upcoming leadership election.
