President Mahama Appoints Daniel Domelevo as EOCO Board Chairman

President John Mahama has appointed renowned Ghanaian anti-corruption crusader Daniel Yaw Domelevo as the Board Chairman of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

EOCO, which is currently led by Raymond Archer, an ace investigative journalist, is mandated to monitor, investigate, and prosecute economic and organised crime, as well as recover proceeds of crime.

It is a specialised agency set up to investigate crimes that cause financial or economic harm to the state, such as money laundering, illegal cyber activities, and terrorism financing.

With this appointment, Daniel Domelevo, a professional accountant, is expected to utilise his extensive experience to help EOCO execute its mandate effectively.

In 2016, he was appointed by President John Mahama to serve as Auditor-General of Ghana, during the Head of State’s first, non-consecutive term in office. However, in 2020, he was compelled by former President Nana Akufo-Addo to take 169 working days of accumulated leave, which culminated in his dismissal.

He has assured that they will work hard to recover stolen resources and prevent others from stealing from the state.
