President John Dramani Mahama has granted presidential amnesty to a number of prisoners across the country as part of efforts to decongest Ghana’s prisons and give deserving inmates a second chance at life.

The gesture is in line with Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the President to grant pardons, respites, and commutations of sentences.
Officials say the move is also aimed at promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of reformed prisoners back into society. The President urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the rare opportunity to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
