The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has unveiled an ambitious plan to create job opportunities for over 6,000 young Ghanaians across the country. In a recent interview, Mr Basintale outlined the Agency’s strategy to tackle youth unemployment, a pressing issue in Ghana that has long hindered the country’s economic growth and stability.
According to Mr Basintale, the YEA is focusing on a range of programs designed to equip young people with the skills and experience needed to thrive in the workforce.
“The YEA is committed to tackling youth unemployment through structured and well-funded initiatives. We understand that creating job opportunities for young people is not just about offering temporary solutions, but about providing them with meaningful, long-term career pathways,” Basintale said.
The CEO revealed that the YEA plans to launch several projects in collaboration with both the public and private sectors. ”These initiatives will span various industries, including agriculture, technology, education, and health, offering diverse employment opportunities for young people with different skill sets.”
The YEA also plans to offer entrepreneurial support to young Ghanaians who wish to start their businesses. This component of the plan will include mentorship, access to seed funding, and business development training to help youth turn their innovative ideas into viable businesses.
“We believe that entrepreneurship is a key driver of job creation, and we are putting in place measures to support young people who want to start their businesses. With the right tools, mentorship, and financial support, we can empower young Ghanaians to create jobs not only for themselves but for others as well”.
