Former President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the importance of providing support for the families of individuals who tragically lost their lives during the 2020 and 2024 general elections. In a recent address, Mahama urged Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, the Minister-designate for the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, to focus on establishing fair compensation for these families upon taking office.
Highlighting the profound impact of these losses, Mahama also reiterated his call to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to carry out comprehensive investigations into the incidents and hold those responsible accountable.
Speaking at a National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving service held at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, on January 10, 2025, Mahama expressed, “It is vital for the Attorney General, as he assumes his role, to work towards determining fair and adequate compensation for the families who have endured such heart-wrenching losses.”
Dr. Ayine is set to appear before the Appointments Committee for vetting on January 13, 2025, alongside two other ministerial nominees.
