The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has addressed recent claims made by Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known as A-Plus, regarding an alleged collaboration following his election as the Independent Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region.
In a press statement released on Monday, 6th January 2025, the NPP aimed to clarify that no official discussions or engagements have taken place with A-Plus. The statement, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, emphasized the party’s position that they have not authorized anyone to represent them in conversations concerning A-Plus.
The NPP encourages all parties to focus on constructive dialogue and collaboration in the political landscape. “We wish to reaffirm that the New Patriotic Party has not met with A-Plus or authorized anyone to engage him on our behalf,” the statement highlighted.
This clarification comes in response to A-Plus’s recent social media post, where he suggested that the NPP, under the leadership of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, had approached him with a proposal for collaboration. A-Plus indicated that this proposal included a commitment from the NPP to refrain from contesting the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections should he choose to align with them in Parliament.
The NPP values transparency and constructive engagement and looks forward to future discussions that foster unity and understanding among all stakeholders.
