The Court has granted bail to New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist, Mohammed Zakou.
Mr Zakou was arrested for allegedly spreading false information about the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Mr Zakou was arrested after he made a Facebook post on April 12 that read, “Rest well, Her Excellency,” despite earlier communication from the government stating that the Vice President was only unwell.
He was subsequently charged with the offense of communicating false news.
A prosecutor from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) told the court that the accused admitted to making the post but claimed it was meant as a gesture of goodwill toward the Vice President.

Appearing before the Achimota Circuit Court on Monday, Zakou’s lawyer, Gary Nimako Marfo, requested bail for his client.
The judge granted bail in the sum of GHs100,000 with two sureties. Additionally, Zakou is required to report to the investigator once a week.
The case has been adjourned to May 12, 2025, for a case management conference.
The National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Mustapha Salam, has indicated to the media that they will never be intimidated by the tactics of the NDC and urged all members to be calm and vigilant.
