The 10-day deadline given to the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, by President John Dramani Mahama to respond to three petitions brought against her expires today, April 7, 2025.
The President, on March 28, wrote to the Chief Justice through his Executive Secretary, asking her to submit a preliminary response to the three petitions demanding her removal from office.

Today, 7th April marks exactly ten working days since the directive was issued. While it is unclear whether the Chief Justice has responded to the directive or not, the outcome of that is critical for the next step.
The petitioners have, among other things, alleged misconduct and incompetence against the Chief Justice.
This comes on the back of petitions submitted by three individuals on February 14 and March 17, 2025, alleging misconduct and abuse of power.
