President Mahama to launch the ‘Feed Ghana Programme’ in Techiman.

President John Dramani Mahama, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is set to launch the Feed Ghana Programme on April 11 in Techiman, the Bono East regional capital.

The initiative aims to bolster food security and reduce the country’s dependence on imported food products.

It forms part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote local food production.

The Feed Ghana Programme seeks to support farmers with improved seeds, modern farming techniques, and access to essential inputs to boost productivity.

It also focuses on value addition, agro-processing, and market linkages to ensure sustainable food systems.

According to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the program will create employment opportunities, enhance rural livelihoods, and significantly reduce the country’s food import bill.

The launch in Techiman—known as the food basket of Ghana—symbolizes the government’s commitment to harnessing the region’s agricultural potential.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, April 3, 2025, Eric Opoku, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, said that stakeholders from the agricultural sector, traditional authorities, and development partners are expected to attend the event.
