Former Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Bright Oduro has accused Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), of intentionally undermining Christian Tetteh Yohuno’s authority during his tenure as Deputy IGP. Oduro claims that Yohuno faced significant obstacles in carrying out his responsibilities due to alleged interference from Dampare.

Specifically, Oduro asserts that Dampare made it difficult for Yohuno to assemble a trusted team by transferring or interdicting officers Yohuno had personally selected. This, according to Oduro, hindered Yohuno’s ability to establish an efficient support system within the police hierarchy ¹.
Oduro’s allegations also suggest that Dampare reassigned officers chosen by Yohuno to distant regions, while others faced disciplinary measures that effectively removed them from their roles. Furthermore, Oduro claims that Dampare’s tenure saw an unprecedented number of legal actions against him by police officers.
It’s worth noting that these allegations are not isolated, as similar accusations have been made by youth from Osudoku who accused Dampare of deliberately sabotaging Yohuno’s career progression.
