President John Dramani Mahama paid a surprise visit to the Black Stars’ training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, offering words of encouragement ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Mahama acknowledged the team’s recent struggles, including their failure to qualify for AFCON 2024, but reaffirmed his faith in the squad’s ability to reclaim Ghana’s football glory. He emphasized that the team’s revival rests on the players, technical staff, and management committee working together to restore the Black Stars’ dominance in African football.

The President reminded the players that their success depends on their dedication and sacrifice during matches. “The goals will come from these feet that are right here. And so, it takes sacrifice. It takes strength,” Mahama urged.
The Black Stars indeed took Mahama’s words to heart, delivering a 5-0 thrashing of Chad on March 21. They will face Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco, a crucial match in Ghana’s bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
