Effutu Traditional Council Launches 2025 Aboakyer Festival.

The Effutu Traditional Council has officially launched the 2025 Aboakyer Festival, setting the stage for a vibrant and historic celebration in Winneba, a town in the central region of Ghana.

The launch ceremony, which took place on the 11th of February 2025, at Kojo Beedu Community Centre brought together dignitaries, chiefs, and local community members to mark the beginning of this highly anticipated event.

The Aboakyer Festival, known for its rich cultural significance, celebrates the tradition of hunting the deer, a ritual that dates back centuries. The festival will feature traditional dances, drumming, feasts, and a series of events that highlight the heritage of the Effutu people.

In his address, the Paramount Chief of Effutu, Neenyi Ghartey VII, emphasized the importance of preserving the festival’s traditions while promoting unity and development within the community.

He also urged both locals and visitors to fully participate in the upcoming events. The 2025 edition of the festival is expected to attract thousands of attendees from across the country and beyond, as it serves as a key event in Ghana’s cultural calendar.

Neenyi also urged the people to maintain a clean environment, not only for the festival but also to help combat the cholera disease, which has been a major concern in the district.

This year’s festival will take place from Saturday, 26th April to 4th May 2025. Attendees can look forward to a variety of cultural exhibitions, including the much-awaited deer hunt.
That’s the latest on the launch of the 2025 Aboakyer Festival.
