Afenyo-Markin accuses Ablakwa’s ORAL team of using drones for surveillance on his properties.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team led by Foreign Affairs Minister-nominee Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of flying drones over his private properties in an alleged surveillance operation.

The Effutu legislator claimed that he was informed by his associates of the suspicious activity on multiple occasions but chose to remain silent, insisting that he had nothing to hide and that all his assets were acquired legally.

He said this in an interview’ on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

The Minority Leader’s revelation follows Mr Ablakwa’s disclosure of some details about Mr Afenyo-Markin’s properties during his vetting on Friday, January 31.

Before his vetting, ask Ablakwa whether we didn’t sit as brothers. I said, ‘Sammy, there were things that you went overboard. I think if you make concessions, we’ll be fine,’” Afenyo-Markin recounted.

Despite their discussion, he claims Ablakwa’s ORAL team continued its surveillance activities.

“Meanwhile, I was aware that these ORAL guys have been flying drones in Winneba over my property. I kept quiet. I managed it. They went to my beachfront property, mounted a drone, and flew it from the community center near the ‘nshorna.’ My boy saw it. I told them to ignore it,” he said.

According to him, the alleged drone surveillance was not limited to Winneba but also targeted his residence in Abelenkpe and other properties.

Sometimes, early in the morning, we see drones behind the rail line, and I know they are spying on my house. What business do drones have at the Minority Leader’s residence?” he questioned.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin further refuted claims that his lands in Winneba are state-owned, describing it as a misrepresentation.
