Neymar’s time at Al-Hilal has come to an end, with the Saudi Arabian club terminating his contract by mutual consent. This development paves the way for Neymar’s highly anticipated return to his boyhood club, Santos, in Brazil.
Neymar’s stint at Al-Hilal was marred by injuries, limiting him to just seven appearances for the club. He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee shortly after joining Al-Hilal and later struggled with a hamstring injury.
Despite his struggles in Saudi Arabia, Neymar remains one of the biggest names in football. He’s expected to sign a six-month contract with Santos, which will have an option to be extended for another year. This move is seen as an opportunity for Neymar to regain his form and potentially reclaim his spot on Brazil’s national team.
Neymar’s return to Santos will be a sentimental homecoming for the 32-year-old forward. He began his professional career with Santos in 2009, scoring 136 goals in 225 games before moving to Barcelona in 2013.
The deal is expected to be finalised soon, with Neymar potentially joining Santos as early as February 5. This transfer saga had also involved interest from Major League Soccer (MLS) side Chicago Fire FC, but Neymar’s preference was to return to Brazil.
