Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has shared encouraging news that President John Dramani Mahama will be appointing new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) within the next 14 days. This announcement aims to address recent concerns surrounding incidents of vandalism and unauthorized actions by individuals claiming to be NDC supporters.
In an interview with Citi FM on Wednesday, January 8, Ashie Moore highlighted that the timely appointment of MMDCEs is a crucial step in restoring order and ensuring a smooth transition to the new administration. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order while safeguarding state institutions.
“Following our party’s internal processes, we are currently screening nominations for potential candidates. I assure our party members, particularly in my region, that if all goes as planned, we will have MMDCEs in place by the end of the next 14 days. Your cooperation is vital during this time,” he stated.
Ashie Moore also encouraged party supporters to remain vigilant and report any unlawful activities to the appropriate authorities. He emphasized that the NDC stands firmly against acts of vandalism and unauthorized conduct and has implemented measures to restore a sense of calm.
“I have been in discussions with the regional police commander, and we are collaborating to ensure that law and order are upheld across the region,” he mentioned.
Furthermore, the Regional Chairman called on NDC members to exercise patience and work together with the authorities during this transition period. He reassured the public that the party is dedicated to fostering a peaceful and transparent process as the new government is established.
“We are taking proactive measures to protect state institutions and ensure that capable leadership is in place to address the needs of Ghanaians,” Ashie Moore concluded.
