President John Dramani Mahama has expressed optimism about his government’s dedicated efforts to address the energy challenges facing Ghana and to avoid a return to the era of “dumsor” (frequent power outages). Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana on January 9, President Mahama acknowledged the pressing obstacles in the country’s energy sector.
He emphasized that his administration is fully focused on tackling these issues transparently and collaboratively.
“We are entering office at a pivotal moment in our nation’s journey. Ghana is encountering significant hurdles, but that is precisely why you entrusted us with this responsibility,” he stated.
In his address, President Mahama brought attention to the potential risks of power outages stemming from insufficient fuel supplies for electricity generation. However, he reassured Ghanaians of his government’s capability to develop sustainable solutions.
“There is a possibility of power outages, but I urge all of you to remain hopeful. You have elected us to find solutions, not to shift blame,” he affirmed.
The President revealed that he convened a stakeholders’ meeting on January 8 to explore innovative strategies aimed at stabilizing the energy supply. “I can share that we are considering several proactive ideas. We are committed to ensuring that your lights remain on and that we avoid the challenges of dumsor,” he said.
President Mahama reiterated the importance of immediate action and partnership in addressing the energy sector’s challenges, and he expressed readiness to lead efforts towards an effective resolution.
