Residents of Sarpeiman, Pobiman, and adjoining communities in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have staged a demonstration to press for the immediate construction of a footbridge to safeguard pedestrians.
According to the residents, the absence of a footbridge along the main road linking the communities to Amasaman has resulted in frequent accidents, with several pedestrians including schoolchildren sustaining injuries while attempting to cross the busy thoroughfare. The protesters, who carried placards appealing for swift government intervention, accused local authorities of failing to address their repeated petitions for a pedestrian crossing or footbridge in the area.
