NDC government to absorb 50% fees of 2020/2021 tertiary students if it comes into power.

Among other speakers at the just- ended manifesto launch of the National Democratic Congress (C), was the running-mate of the party Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.

She said, knowing how the COVID-19 has impacted the finances of parents of tertiary students, the NDC will take responsibility and absorb 50% of fees of tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year.

“We know how COVID-19 has impacted an already weak economy and personal finances and we must not let this become another barrier to opportunities.”

“That is why the next NDC administration will absorb 50% of fees of tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year as an incentive to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on students and parents,” she added.

Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman also made mention of the fact that free wi-fi and laptops will be provided to students to enable them to participate in online lectures.

“We also recognise the prevailing inequities that virtual learning during this pandemic has made bare, so we will provide free laptops to tertiary students to facilitate online classes. We will also establish free wi-fi zones in all public and private tertiary institutions.”

Speaking further, she revealed that the NDC will promote e-learning in schools and provide teachers and students gadgets that will enhance teaching and learning.

” We will promote the use of IT and provide free wi-fi in schools to enhance the performance of students, provide students and teachers with free tablets loaded with relevant content to facilitate teaching and learning and provide computer laboratories for all secondary schools.”

The NDC Manifesto dubbed “Jobs, Prsperity and more. The People’s Maanifesto” was launched on Monday, September 7, 2020 in Accra.
