The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah says they are considering all lamentations made against the revie of the LI2462.
This comes after several groups including the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, and Dr. Ken criticized the government’s decision to amend LI 2462 instead of an outright revocation.
It would be recalled that Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, gave assurances that the amendment of LI 2462 is tied to an ongoing process to amend the Minerals and Mining Act 2003.

“We are beginning the process of amending the Minerals and Mining Act 2003 to bar individuals from mining in forest areas.
“The process to amend the mining law satisfies issues around the LI permitting mining in the forest. This is a clear demonstration that this government listens to the concerns of Ghanaians.
Hon. Armah Kofi Buah said the amendment is to take power away from the president from granting mining licenses in forest reserves and will do just that.
