Mahama vows swift action to address pupils dangerous river crossing to access education

Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey along with the MPs for Upper and Lower West Akyem and the Ghana Armed Forces Engineering Unit has visited Asuokow after a viral video showed schoolchildren crossing a river without a bridge, drawing President Mahama’s attention

President John Mahama has assured Asuokow residents in the Eastern Region of swift intervention to resolve pupils’ challenges of risking their lives crossing a water body daily to access education.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, February 9, he revealed that the affected community had been identified and that immediate steps were being taken to provide a lasting solution.

President Mahama stated that his Reset Ghana agenda prioritises removing obstacles to education and healthcare, ensuring that every Ghanaian has equal opportunities.

“Our quest to Reset Ghana includes a determination to remove barriers to education and healthcare across the country,” he stated.

During the visit, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey assured that their frievances will be addressed.
