The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ashaiman constituency in the Greater Accra region, Ernest Norgbey, has condemned the destruction of his party’s office by constituents protesting his exclusion from President John Mahama’s first list of Deputy Ministerial nominees.
On Wednesday, President Mahama announced his list of nominees, but Mr Norgbey’s name was absent.

In response, party supporters in Ashaiman took to the streets, vandalizing party property.
Mr Norgbey revealed that he had been informed about the protest and attempted to intervene before the situation escalated.
“I spoke to them at China Mall, where they had gathered, advising them not to cross the motorway or take any drastic actions. I urged them to go home, relax, and wait to see the good work of John Mahama,” he said.
Despite his efforts, Mr Norgbey was later informed that the protesters had gone to the constituency chairman’s office and caused damage.
“I can say with certainty that we condemn these actions. They should not have taken their frustrations to the chairman’s office,” he said.
Let’s listen to the grievances of the supporters.
