Visiting your wards in school is allowed but no interaction – NAPO to Parent

Minister for Education

Parents of Senior high school final year students can visit their children within their 6 weeks stay in school but there will be no interaction between a parent and his or her ward, said the Minister for Education. The Education Minister disclosed this in an interview with the media that it’s for safety reasons.

The Minister for Education said “they do not want any parent to visit his or her child in any of the Senior high schools, he then said that, the students are to be in school for only six weeks to prepare for their final examination and then come back home after 5 weeks”

He explained that, the banned for parents from visiting students will be effective on June 22, 2020, as part of measures to limit external interactions in schools and also slow the spread of the pandemic.

The Member of Parliament advised parents to provide all the necessary items their children will need throughout the weeks to be spent in school for them to be comfortable and focus on their studies because once they report to school parents will not be allowed to pay a visit.

Also, NAPO later stated that “even if a parent is allowed to enter the school premises, he/she will not be allowed to interact with the student, that is if a parent has something special for his/her ward, it should be given to the school authorities for delivering.

In conclusion, the National Council of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) has petitioned the government to authorize the use of mobile phones by final year students as they report to school on 15th June,2020 in order to be in contact with parents.
