The Effutu Municipal Assembly of the Central Region has recorded 19 positive cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This disclosure was made by the Municipal Chief Executive of the municipality, Hon. J. B. Ninson during an exclusive interview on Winneba based community radio, Radio Peace.
Narrating how the cases were recorded, he said , a fisherman was the first person to test positive, two people later tested positive at a confined work place whereas a pregnant woman who return came from Accra to Winneba to deliver also tested positive for the virus. Several people also tested positive leading to 19 positive cases.
He further noted that, the deceased passed on the day his results was released. The cause of the death was however not communicated.
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has risen to 7,616.
According to the Ghana Health Service, 313 new cases have been confirmed with nine more people declared recovered.
The update as of Friday, May 29, 2020 shows that the Bono East region has become the 15th out of Ghana’s 16 regions to record a COVID-19 case.
The region accounts for one of the 313 new cases announced by the GHS.
Breakdown of new cases
Out of the 313 new cases, 227 were recorded from the routine surveillance while 86 of the cases were confirmed among people tested through enhanced contact tracing.
