Restrictions on educational institutions lifted; Final year students to go back to school

President Akufo-Addo has lifted the ban on educational institutions for only final year students to return and study for their respective exit/final examinations.

In his 10th address to the nation on measures government is taking to fight the virus, the President explained that the decision was reached after consultations with teacher unions across the country.

This announcement forms part of what he described as a ‘phased approach’ to reopening the country in a bid to live with the virus in safety.

President Akufo-Addo explained that “final year university students are to report to their universities on June 15.”

“Final year senior high school (SHS) 3 students together with SHS 2 Gold Track students on June 22.”

He also revealed that final year JHS 3 students are to resume on June 29, 2020.

The President, however, emphasised that “JHS 3 classes will comprise a maximum of 30 students; SHS classes a maximum of 25 students.”
