The Appointments Committee of Parliament vetted the Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, today.
This process is a key step in evaluating individuals nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to lead vital ministries and regions as part of his administration’s leadership
During the vetting process Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor asked a question to know if the minister designate for lands and natural resources and his government are going to call a state of emergency on illegal mining.

According to Hon Jinapor , calls were made that a state of emergency be placed on illegal mining in Ghana and the NDC released a letter to the Akufo Addo’s government saying they would have declared state of emergency to combat illegal mining also other state institutions seconded by.
He then asked when should Ghanians expect the government to do the needful by calling a state of emergency on illegal mining.

In response to his questions the nominee said he can’t decide now until the committee approves him to be the minister.
He then gave an assurance that illegal mining has destroyed Ghana’s heritage and our economy he will make sure to do the needful to take action to stop illegal mining although the previous government couldn’t succeed in fighting illegal mining but his government will do so .
