Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist Samini has stirred up quite a commotion with his recent statement revealing an inclination for Shatta Wale over Stonebwoy when it comes to his musical preference.
The rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, two incredibly talented artists, has spurred debates about who truly deserves the Reggae Dancehall Title. Both artists have won numerous awards for their contributions to reggae dancehall music since their debut in 2004 and 2012 respectively.
During his interview on TV3’s Day Show, Samini made it clear that he would choose Shatta Wale over Stonebwoy. He defended his choice by highlighting Stonebwoy’s relatively shorter time in the industry compared to Shatta Wale, who has been around for quite a while.
However, Samini clarified that he had no intentions of disrespecting Stonebwoy or his craft. He believes that Stonebwoy is still on his journey to establish himself and secure his rightful place in the industry.
“Shatta Wale comes from my era and I think he has more under his belt than Stonebwoy. Stonebwoy is still coming up, no disrespect”, he stated.
