According to data on traffic accidents acquired by the Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department during the first quarter of 2023, there were fewer crashes than during the same time period in 2022.
According to the statistics, 3,340 instances in total were reported between January and March 2023, a 15.06% decrease over the same time in 2022.
Of the 16 areas, the Greater Accra Region had the most recorded crashes (1,243), while the Oti Region had the fewest (15 occurrences).
Since 2023 began, 544 individuals have died nationwide in various traffic incidents.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) described the reduction in reported road crashes as a promising outlook for the country.
Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Pearl Adusu Sateckla said it will deploy various technologies to further reduce road crashes.
