The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) has called on transport unions to pause any planned fare increases until after President Mahama’s emergency cabinet meeting, which aims to address rising fuel prices amid Middle East tensions.

Speaking to journalists, GRTCC General Secretary Ohene Yeboah emphasized the need for coordinated action to protect commuters while policies are formulated.
President Mahama’s cabinet meeting is focused on stabilizing fuel prices to prevent the need for higher transport costs, following a recent push by operators for adjustments.
While transport unions have expressed concerns about the sustainability of current operations due to rising costs, they have agreed to wait for the government’s proposed policy measures.
According to Ohene Yeboah, they have tabled their proposal awaiting cabinet response.
