Gomoa has rapidly gained recognition as a thriving cultural destination following the successful debut of the Gomoa Easter Carnival, which attracted thousands of patrons from across Ghana and beyond.

The four-day celebration turned the enclave into a lively centre of music, tradition, and economic activity. Visitors travelled from major المدن including Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, as well as members of the diaspora seeking to reconnect with their heritage.
The festival delivered an immediate economic boost to the area. Hotels and guesthouses recorded full occupancy ahead of the event, while transport operators experienced increased passenger traffic. Local businesses—particularly food vendors, artisans, and traders—reported strong sales, underscoring the carnival’s growing role in driving local commerce.
The celebrations began with colourful traditional processions and cultural displays that highlighted the rich heritage of the Gomoa people. Communities came alive with music, dance, and vibrant costumes, offering an unforgettable cultural experience to visitors.
A standout moment of the festivities was the lighting of bonfires across various communities, symbolising unity and togetherness. The tradition created a warm and festive atmosphere, setting the stage for nights filled with entertainment and social interaction.
With its impressive debut, the Gomoa Easter Carnival is being praised as a powerful platform for promoting tourism and preserving culture. Many believe the event has the potential to grow into one of Ghana’s premier festivals if consistently supported.
The success of this maiden edition has firmly positioned Gomoa as a key destination during the Easter season, blending cultural celebration with economic opportunity.
Music featured prominently throughout the carnival, with leading Ghanaian artists delivering electrifying performances. Sarkodie thrilled fans with a powerful set, while Shatta Wale energised the crowd with a high-octane performance.
Other notable acts, including Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, Tinny, Sista Afia, Kuami Eugene, and Obaapa Christy, also delivered memorable performances that kept patrons engaged throughout the four days.
The event was held at the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Community Park, where large crowds gathered each night in an atmosphere of excitement and celebration.
The carnival is an initiative of the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng alias Kwame A-Plus, who aims to position the area as a leading destination for tourism, culture, and investment.
He emphasised the need to harness Gomoa’s resources to drive job creation, industrial growth, and economic transformation, including plans to establish a free zone enclave.
The final day brought the celebrations to a fitting close, marked by continued performances and strong community participation.
With its impressive turnout, economic impact, and cultural significance, the Gomoa Easter Carnival has set a new benchmark and firmly placed the area on Ghana’s tourism map.
