The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the dismissal of Otto Addo as head coach of the Ghana national football team, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure in charge of the senior national side.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the GFA confirmed that the decision was taken following a review of the team’s recent performances and overall direction. While specific details surrounding the termination were not fully disclosed, the association indicated that the move forms part of a broader effort to reposition the Black Stars for future competitions.
Otto Addo, who previously led Ghana to qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, returned to the role with high expectations as the team prepared for upcoming international assignments, including the 2026 World Cup campaign. However, inconsistent results and growing pressure from fans and stakeholders appear to have influenced the decision.
The GFA expressed appreciation to Addo for his service and commitment during his time with the team, acknowledging his contribution to Ghanaian football.
“The Association thanks Otto Addo for his dedication and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors,” part of the statement read.
Attention now shifts to the appointment of a new head coach, with the GFA expected to name an interim manager in the coming days as preparations continue for upcoming fixtures.
The dismissal marks another significant change for the Black Stars as they seek to rebuild and restore confidence among supporters ahead of crucial international competitions.
