Challenging Heights has rescued 22 children from various forms of forced labour, including cases linked to child trafficking in fishing communities along Ghana’s coastal and lake regions.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders, targeted areas known for the exploitation of children in the fishing industry. Many of the rescued children were found working under hazardous conditions, often forced into long hours of labour such as diving to untangle fishing nets, paddling canoes, and handling heavy equipment.

According to Challenging Heights, several of the children had been trafficked from different parts of the country and deprived of access to education, proper healthcare, and family support. The organization noted that some victims had endured physical and emotional abuse during their time in captivity.
