The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers from its Customs Division with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches.

In a press release issued on February 24, 2026, the Authority said the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation carried out on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.
According to the statement, the exercise uncovered discrepancies in documentation and non-compliance with established transit procedures. These findings triggered a detailed internal review to ascertain the full extent of the matter.
Initial assessments suggest potential procedural lapses that require independent and comprehensive examination. The GRA indicated that the ongoing investigation will determine the facts, including the level of individual involvement and any departures from established Customs protocols.
The Authority added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the probe where necessary. Upon conclusion of the investigation, appropriate administrative actions will be taken in line with applicable laws and regulations.
The GRA assured stakeholders and the general public that the move underscores its commitment to safeguarding national revenue, promoting the growth of local industries, and supporting overall economic development.
Reaffirming its dedication to professionalism and accountability, the Authority stressed that all revenue collection and enforcement procedures must meet the highest standards of integrity and service.
