The race for continental glory is heating up as the football world turns its attention to Rabat, Morocco, where the CAF Awards 2025 will be staged on 19 November 2025. The event, which honours Africa’s finest performers between January 6 and October 15, 2025, promises glamour, fierce competition, and a celebration of the continent’s football excellence.
This year’s nominations have stirred excitement across Africa, with global icons Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi, and Victor Osimhen headlining the Men’s Player of the Year shortlist. The trio has dazzled for both club and country, earning widespread praise and making the 2025 edition one of the most unpredictable in years.
Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, who continues to shine for Liverpool, stands as a strong contender after another stellar season marked by leadership and consistency. Morocco’s talisman Achraf Hakimi has also been outstanding for PSG, combining defensive brilliance with attacking flair. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, now firing for Galatasaray, rounds out the top three, boasting a goal-filled campaign that has won him fan admiration across Europe.

In the women’s division, Ghana’s own Portia Boakye is among the nominees for Women’s Player of the Year, joining Malawi’s sensational sisters, Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga. CAF has also unveiled nominees for Women’s Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Interclub Player of the Year, each category showcasing the rapid growth of the women’s game.
The Coach of the Year (Men) category features top tacticians such as Bubista of Cape Verde, Walid Regragui of Morocco, and Morocco’s U-20 coach, Mohamed Ouahbi. Their outstanding achievements—from international upsets to youth development breakthroughs—have made them standout figures in African football.
Young talents are also being celebrated. Nominees for the Young Player of the Year include Morocco’s rising star Abdellah Ouazane, midfield gem Othmane Maamma, and South Africa’s vibrant forward Tylon Smith.
Meanwhile, clubs like Pyramids FC, RS Berkane, and Mamelodi Sundowns dominate the Club of the Year nominations after strong performances in continental competitions.
CAF has also released a 13-goal shortlist for the Goal of the Year award, with fans voting online to select the winner. The competition includes spectacular long-range strikes, acrobatic finishes, and team goals that highlight the creativity of African football.
