The Black Stars’ friendly match against Japan on Friday turned tragic when Ghana midfielder Abu Francis suffered a serious leg injury that forced him off the pitch in the 56th minute. The incident occurred at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi during Ghana’s first game of their Asian tour.

The 24-year-old midfielder attempted to block a powerful shot from Japan’s attacking line, but his leg twisted awkwardly upon impact. He immediately collapsed, clutching his ankle as players from both sides signaled urgently to the medical team.
Medical staff rushed onto the pitch, stabilizing the midfielder before stretcher-bearers carried him off to loud applause from the crowd. Japan’s Ao Tanaka, who was involved in the challenge, walked over to the Ghana bench moments later to offer his personal apology, a gesture that drew praise from fans online.
