Otto Addo Names Black Stars Squad for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana coach Otto Addo has unveiled his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic (CAR) and Comoros, with a blend of experience and youthful energy set to carry the Black Stars’ hopes.

The squad sees a return for key figures such as Mohammed Kudus, who continues to be the team’s creative heartbeat, and Inaki Williams, whose pace and work rate remain vital in attack. Addo has also placed faith in youngsters like Christopher Bonsu Baah and Caleb Yirenkyi, signaling his intent to inject fresh energy into the side as Ghana chase early qualification momentum.

In goal, Lawrence Ati Zigi leads the line of shot-stoppers, supported by Benjamin Asare and Joseph Anang, while the defense will rely heavily on the experience of Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu. New defensive faces like Kojo Peprah Oppong will also be eager to prove their worth.

The midfield remains dynamic, with Elisha Owusu and Kwasi Sibo offering steel, while Kudus and Prince Owusu provide attacking creativity. Upfront, the firepower of Antoine Semenyo, Joseph Paintsil, and Williams adds variety, ensuring Ghana will not lack options going forward.

Speaking after the announcement, Otto Addo emphasized balance in his selection:

“We’ve built a squad that can compete at the highest level. The experienced players know what it means to play for Ghana, and the younger ones bring hunger and determination. Against Comoros, we must be clinical and focused.”

The Black Stars, who are aiming for a fifth World Cup appearance, will host the Central African Republic before traveling to face Comoros. With qualification points already precious, Ghana cannot afford any slip-ups, especially against a Comoros side that has become a tricky opponent in recent years.

As the countdown begins, all eyes will be on whether Otto Addo’s blend of old and new can deliver the perfect response and keep Ghana firmly on track for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
