Ato Forson inaugurates Gold Board Tribunal

The Gold Board Tribunal was officially inaugurated in a ceremony at the Ministry of Finance, where Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson swore in the tribunal’s chairperson and members.

The tribunal, established under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, will handle appeals related to decisions made by the Ghana Gold Board, including licensing issues and disputes.

Chairperson Biadala Mortey Akpadzi, along with members Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah, took their oaths of office, marking the start of their roles as an independent appeals body. Their decisions will have the same legal weight as those of the High Court, with the possibility of further appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Dr. Forson emphasised the importance of transparency and fairness in the gold sector and urged the tribunal to uphold integrity and professionalism.

The tribunal will operate on an as-needed basis to ensure fair review of disputes in the gold industry, helping to strengthen regulatory governance in Ghana’s mining sector.
