The Project Director and Engineer for the Ofankor-Nsawam road project, Ing. Awuku Asare, has announced that it will take approximately three weeks to repair the road from Amasaman to Nsawam and make it motorable for users ahead of the planned asphalt laying.
Ing. Asare made this revelation during a visit by Adom News to the ongoing construction site.
He said, “We expect to complete the initial repairs within three weeks, after which the road will be safe for motorists before the final asphalt is laid.”
Some drivers in an interview with Adom News expressed excitement that work has resumed.
“We are happy the contractor is back on site. This road has been a nightmare for commuters for months, and we look forward to a smoother journey soon.”
In addition to the road repairs, the project director confirmed that construction will continue on the Amasaman Four-Tie Interchange. However, he cautioned that some shop owners near the interchange will be affected, which could delay the project by about three months due to compensation payments. He added,
“We are aware some traders will be displaced, and we are working closely with authorities to ensure timely compensation. We now expect the project’s full completion by May 2026.”
Some traders at the Amasaman Lorry Station, who will be displaced by the interchange construction, said they are waiting for compensation before vacating their shops.
“We have been informed by the Assembly Member and engineers that we need to move forward with the project. We are just waiting for the government’s compensation so we can relocate and continue our business,” a trader said.
The Ofankor-Nsawam road upgrade remains a critical infrastructure project expected to improve traffic flow and ease commuting for thousands of road users daily.
