The Government of Ghana has released GH¢809 million to the contractor working on the Pokuase–Nsawam Highway, paving the way for accelerated progress on the critical road project.

The payment, confirmed by the Ministry of Roads and Highways, is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the dualisation of the highway, which has long been plagued by congestion and deteriorating infrastructure.
The 33-kilometre stretch, which connects Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region to Nsawam in the Eastern Region, is one of the busiest road corridors in the country, serving thousands of commuters daily. Once completed, the project is expected to ease traffic, improve road safety, and enhance trade between Accra and the northern parts of the country.
Commuters and residents along the corridor have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the contractor will speed up construction to reduce the daily traffic gridlock on the stretch.
The Pokuase–Nsawam Highway project forms part of a broader national agenda to modernise Ghana’s road network and improve connectivity across the regions.
