Hearts of Oak beat Heart of Lions to clinch the Homowo Cup.

Accra Hearts of Oak were crowned champions of the 2025 Homowo Cup after defeating Kpando Heart of Lions in an entertaining clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians, buoyed by their passionate home support, showed determination from the start as they sought to add silverware to their pre-season preparations.

Despite a strong challenge from Heart of Lions, Hearts found the breakthrough in the first half through a well-worked team goal that sent their fans into wild celebration.

Lions responded with spirited play, pushing forward in search of an equalizer, but the Hearts’ backline stood resolute. Two goals in four minutes in the first half were enough for Accra Hearts of Oak to score a 2-0 win over Kpando Heart of Lions to win the 2025 Gbese Mantse Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Goals from Frank Duku in the 36th minute and Hamza Issah in the 40th minute sealed the win for the Phobian Club in the preseason contest and lifted the title.

Recently signed from Vision FC, Duku scored from close range off a free kick in the 36th minute for the game’s first goal. The goal was Duku’s first on his debut for Hearts.

Issah added the game’s second goal a few minutes later when Duku set him up in a counterattack and had him lob the ball past Lions’ goalkeeper to underpin a strong display from Mas-Ud Dramani’s team.
