Chancellor of the Pontifical Academies of Sciences, Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, is warning of disasters if the land degradation activities do not end.
According to him, the disregard for nature and creation is affecting livelihood.
He believes that illegal mining should end, or else other unforeseen disasters may happen.
If the country wants to mine gold, it should be done sustainably, he advised.
