Speaking before thousands of delegates gathered at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of reflection and restructuring as the NPP prepares to reposition itself for future electoral success.

“This is a moment for rebuilding—not just our structures, but our trust, our focus, and our bond with the grassroots,” he said. “We must come together, not as factions, but as one party with one purpose.”
Dr. Bawumia, who led the NPP in the 2024 polls, also addressed proposed constitutional amendments being considered at the conference, including possible changes to the Special Electoral College system.
“Let us embrace reforms that empower the base of our party. Let us not fear change, but shape it in a way that strengthens our democracy,” he urged.
He also used the platform to thank delegates and party executives for their continued commitment despite recent challenges, calling for calm and respect as internal debates unfold over the future direction of the party.
The theme of the conference, “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” was echoed throughout his address, as he encouraged members to focus on integrity, discipline, and grassroots mobilization.
With more than 50 constitutional motions on the table and a pending legal challenge questioning the legitimacy of the conference, Bawumia’s speech aimed to set a unifying tone and reaffirm his position as a leading figure in the party’s next chapter.
“We must rise again—not for ourselves, but for Ghana,” he concluded to loud applause.
As the NPP charts its course toward the 2026 internal elections and the 2028 general elections, Dr. Bawumia’s words could play a crucial role in shaping both policy and party unity in the months ahead.
