The Ministry of Local Government has begun distributing monthly allowances to Assembly Members nationwide. Over GHS23,621 million has been disbursed to cover April and May, with each member receiving GHS1,300 per month. This is part of a larger initiative to support and incentivize local governance and development.

According to the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the amount is to be settled for April and May 2025.
This disbursement is a significant step in the government’s commitment to ensuring that local government officials, specifically Assembly Members, are adequately compensated for their contributions.
The funding for these allowances was included in the recent budget approved by Parliament for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs. The budget also allocates funds for various other programs and projects aimed at strengthening local governance and promoting national unity.
He added that in total, the government allocated GH₵ 100 million for the monthly payments to Assembly Members in the 2025 budget.
