President John Mahama has officially launched the GoldBod security taskforce to enforce it regulations.
The task force, set up by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), is expected to clamp down on illegal gold trading and smuggling across the country.

During the launch, Acting CEO of the Ghana GoldBod Sammy Gyamfi said the board is buying the gold mined by the small-scale miners at a huge price, as claimed.
He said, those complaining that the government is cheating them by buying at a low price should bear with the government as they do not use the black market.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, added that his ministry will assist the task force to ensure the land is protected from illegal mining.
On his part, President John Dramani Mahama tasked the task force to deliver on their mandate.
