The disconnection, which occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, forms part of ECG’s ongoing nationwide revenue mobilization exercise.
The ECG task force indicated that GWL was given ample notice to settle its arrears but failed to do so.
In addition to the disconnection at GWL, a similar action was taken against the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) over an outstanding debt of GH¢3,153,484.98.

ECG officials explained that GBC failed to comply with a structured payment plan previously agreed upon, prompting the disconnection.
Meanwhile, the general manager of external communications of ECG Dr. Charles Ayiku says ECG is engaging with Ghana Water over unpaid arrears, and disconnection stays until they comply.
