The Central Regional Minister Regional Minister Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah has they are going to increase the fight against galamsey despite a police officer losing his life.
A police officer drowned this morning in the River Offin at Assin Asaman while participating in an operation against illegal mining (galamsey).

The body identified as Constable Kwabena Dogbewas was recovered after a four-hour search.
The incident occurred during a swoop operation led by the Central North Regional Police Command, part of their ongoing efforts to tackle illegal mining activities in the region.
When the police arrived, suspected illegal miners fled across the river.
Commiserating with the family of the deceased and police officers in the Central North Police Command, Hon. Okyere said they will not back down due to the demise of the law enforcer.
He therefore urged chiefs in the area, the media, and all stakeholders to join in the fight.
