Dr Ishmael Yamson speaking to the media warned that the country must avoid a dreaded 18th bailout by resetting its economic trajectory.

Reflecting on Ghana’s post-independence economic promise, the Board Chairman of MTN Ghana, lamented how the nation’s progress derailed after the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.
“We were very proud to be Ghanaian after independence. Anytime I walked into Unilever House in London, every African identified as Ghanaian, and the British assumed all Africans were Ghanaians. We were very, very proud of ourselves,” he said.
According to him Bad governance and management can be attributed to the poor performance of state-owned enterprises.
”What I heard that made me cry was we borrowed money to buy cocoa and we couldn’t even supply the cocoa so this year three hundred thousand tons of cocoa that we will harvest has already been sold at a lower price so where is the accountability and where are those people took us in that place, who is going to hold them accountable? We should hold them accountable and when you say people will say witch-hunting- hunting this is not a witch-hunting” he added.
