They are in court to challenge the eligibility and validity of Alexander Afenyo Markin as a member of parliament for the Effutu Constituency believing that the 2024 parliamentary elections were not fairly conducted.
The first petitioner, James Kofi Annan is praying for the court to annul results from some 96 polling stations claiming that the signatories on the pinksheets are not those of his officially assigned polling agents.

The second petitioner, Louisa Buabeng, on the other hand, wants the entire results of the parliamentary elections annulled because the Electoral Commission denied her crucial information about the elections and also denied her fielding polling agents.
Meanwhile, counsel for the petitioners has expressed mistrust in the administrative staff of the Winneba High Court.
Citing an earlier instance where the registrar allegedly ordered an assigned bailiff to terminate a service process for an interlocutory injunction on the Effutu MP prior to the swearing-in of the 9th parliament and other subsequent instances that were brought to the open court, the counsel who intends petitioning the Chief Justice wants the administrative staff sanctioned.
He has accused them of manipulating key processes and could deny the petitioners the justice they seek.
