Ato Forson, John Jinapor and Dr Dominic Ayine as Ministers approved by parliament.

Parliament has approved the first batch of ministers nominated by President John Mahama following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The approval follows the Committee’s unanimous recommendation of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Majority Leader; John Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu; and Dr Dominic Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East, for ministerial positions.

Parliament debated the motion for the approval of the nominees on Tuesday, January 21.

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, presided over the session as the House debated the approval of the nominees.

After hours of extensive deliberation, both the Majority and Minority caucuses acknowledged that the three ministerial nominees have demonstrated competence and the ability to lead their respective ministries based on their past performances.

The Second Deputy Speaker subsequently confirmed the appointments.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson was approved as the Minister of Finance, John Jinapor as the Minister of Energy, and Dr Dominic Ayine as the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

This first batch of approved ministers represents a significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to constitute his government and address pressing national issues with a strong and capable ministerial team.
