The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tatale Sanguli constituency in the Northern Region has suspended 58 members for allegedly failing to support the party’s official candidate in the recent elections.
In a letter addressed to the national and regional executives, which was viewed by Citi News, the constituency chairman claimed that these members worked against the party’s candidate during the elections, a violation of the NPP’s constitution. As a result, the decision to suspend them was made.
One of the suspended members, Napare Prosper, a former communications officer for the constituency, has denied the allegations. He stated that he has given the constituency chairman 24 hours to provide evidence of the claims and is demanding a fair hearing. “I have seen the letter circulating on social media stating that I was suspended for not supporting the MP, but I want to clarify that I did not campaign against the duly confirmed candidate,” he said.
