Frimpong Manso Takes the Helm as Head Coach of Black Starlets

The Ghana Football Association has made an exciting move by appointing Coach Stephen Frimpong Manso as the new Head Coach of the Male National Under-17 team, known as the Black Starlets. With a CAF Licence A Coaching certificate under his belt, Manso brings valuable experience to this pivotal position.

Retaining Nana Kweku Agyemang and Jacob Nettey as Assistant Coaches will ensure continuity and support for Manso as they work together to elevate the team. The association’s decision to select Coach Manso signifies its confidence in his ability to guide Ghana back to prominence in youth football on both the African continent and the global stage.

Throughout his coaching career, Manso has gained extensive experience with several club teams, including Stade d’Abidjan, Asante Kotoko, Karela United, B. A. United, Kessben FC (now known as Medeama SC), and Nkoranza Warriors. He is currently the Head Coach of Premier League club Bibiani Gold Stars.

Coach Frimpong Manso is recognized for his talent in discovering and nurturing young players. He previously led the National U17 team from 2009 to 2010, having also served as an Assistant Coach. His earlier experience includes working with the Black Meteors, Ghana’s National Male Under-23 team, from 2006 to 2008.

A former player for the senior national team, the Black Stars, Manso represented Ghana from 1986 to 1995. His impressive playing career includes eight years at Kumasi Asante Kotoko before he transitioned to the Kuwaiti club, Al Shabab. Known as a stalwart defender during his time on the field, Frimpong Manso’s rich background positions him well to cultivate the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.
